Armenia is the industrially-agrarian country. The priority in economy belongs to a small-scale agricultural production. In structure of gross national product it is got: on an agriculture — 31,1%, the industry — 21,8%, trade — 8.7%, construction — 8, 5%, transport — 5,1%, other spheres — 24,9%. Leading industries are: mechanical engineering and metal working, chemical and petrochemical, nonferrous metallurgy, manufacture of building materials (including on the basis of deposits lime stones and marble), food, light industry. Agricultural borrows about 44% of ground fund. From them on an arable land 17% are got; on the grounds used in plant growing, 3% and on pastures — 24%. Nearby 330 thousand in hectares are the irrigated grounds. On gross output a share of agriculture (cultivation of grapes and fruits, tobacco and vegetable growing, cultivation of fodder grasses and grain) prevails of animal industries (mainly a dairy-meat direction). On export go, except for vegetables, grapes and tobacco, and also production of processing of agricultural raw material — high-quality cognac drinks, vine, fruit and vegetable canned food. On grain and cattle-breeding productions of need of the state in an appreciable degree become covered due to import. Export concedes in foreign trade at cost more than three times to import. Armenia exports copper ore, machines and the equipment, a breakage of metals, etc. Armenia import: gas, oil, the foodstuffs, etc. The basic partners on export are: Belgium, Russia, Iran, Turkmenistan, the USA, Georgia; on import — Russia, the USA, the Great Britain, Iran, Turkey, Belgium. Armenia often is named as a museum in open-air: above 4 thousand Unique monuments are totalled — temples, monasteries, palaces, a caravan-sheds, ancient bridges. Among them fortress Garni (III — II centuries B.C., a residence of tsars) with a pagan temple of the Sun (I century), the patriarchal palaces in Dvina (V — VI centuries), monastic ensembles Sevan (IX century), Akhpat (X — XIII centuries, object of the World cultural heritage), etc. |
